AMAZING HOMEMADE COLA DRINK

You read well. I have managed to recreate a Cola drink, with the most amazing taste, very very very similar to what you would call the ”cola root drink” and no chemicals whatsoever. As I said it on my Instagram, Peaters will go nuts for this. The syrup you can save for up to 2 weeks in the fridge, add only a little bit to a glass of fresh sparkling cold water and some ice cubes (optional) and it will give you the most delicious, wholesome Cola drink.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 g coconut sugar
  • 240 ml filtered water
  • 1 strip orange rind
  • 1 strip lemon rind
  • 1 strip lime rind (optional)
  • 2 Ceylon cinnamon sticks
  • 1/8 tsp powdered coriander
  • pinch of powdered nutmeg
  • Sparkling water to serve, cold ideally

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a saucepan, add the coconut sugar and heat it up until it becomes sticky, then add the water and the rest of ingredients. Try to mix continuously and allow to simmer for about 10-15 minutes at medium heat.
  2. Strain the syrup in a container or bottle that can close.
  3. After chilling, add only a little bit of the syrup to a tall glass, some ice cubes and some extra lemon slices and pour over some sparkling cold water. Enjoy!
